Philip Glass’s new opera based on Peter Stephan Jungk’s novel “The Perfect American” is a surreal, meditative, episodic account of the last days of Walt Disney as he dies of cancer, haunted by the memories of his family and associates, and the ghosts of the many animated characters he created.
